This series of Biblical plays is performed every four years in the original, medieval way. That is, the set is built on a waggon and towed around the streets of York, stopping at certain stations to perform. We form the ensemble for the Mercers' Play: The Last Judgement.
God is weary of the licentiousness of mankind and determines to destroy all creation.
When the trumpets of the angels sound the quick and the dead rise and stand before Christ. He separates them into those who are blessed through their thoughts and deeds and those who will go to Hell. Our squire played God, our Allison was musical director. The whole band was..er...the whole band. We worked with the Guild of Merchant Adventurers and with Pocklington School.
